No

This I declare about the LORD: he alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap. Psalm 91: 2–3

It’s difficult to hear the word no. You plead for God to answer a request, but it is denied. Especially if the appeal is for something godly or positive, you may feel confused, dejected, and even question the Lord’s purposes in refusing you.

But understand, when your will clashes with God’s, you instantly come to a point of decision. Will you demand your way or will you accept His? Will you take the throne of your life; or will you acknowledge that your Lord and Savior is absolutely sovereign, caring, and wise, and He would never hurt you?

Be assured, the Father’s no is both compassionate and good. Because of His holy character and unfailing love, He always strives to give you the absolute best direction for your life. You may not understand the reason for His no at the moment, but eventually you will. And surely you will give Him thanks for saving you from a mistake.

Jesus, You are my authority, and no matter how difficult it is, I accept Your “no.” I trust You to lead me in the best way possible, amen.

In His presence… accept His unfailing protection.

EVERY DAY IN HIS PRESENCE, CHARLES F. STANLEY
