FINANCIAL COLLAPSE

Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help.
JUDGES 6: 6 NIV

The theme of the book of Judges is “every man did what was right in his own eyes” (17: 6). So when did the Israelites finally cry out to the Lord? When God took away every material resource they had. The Lord knew exactly what it would take to get their attention: the destruction of all their possessions. Has the Father allowed your finances to dry up?

Has He taken something of great value from you? This is difficult to endure, but the Lord wants you to understand that He is your security—not anything you could possess.

Of course, you may say, “But I thought God promised to supply all of my needs?” Yes, He did (Philippians 4: 19). And He will continue to do so. But He also knows that your greatest need is to have a relationship with Him and listen to Him.

Your spiritual well-being is far more important than anything material. So God will bring you to utter dependence on Him rather than allow your possessions to become a destructive idol in your life.

God, strip away my self-dependence and materialism so that I will always rest in Your provision, amen.

In His presence . . . find the supply for every need.
