A SPIRIT OF CONTENTMENT

I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
PHILIPPIANS 4: 11

If anyone had good reason to complain about life, it was the apostle Paul. He experienced brutal beatings, shipwrecks, imprisonments, infirmities, and he lived in constant danger. He went without sleep, food, or water on countless occasions, not to mention he was often criticized and falsely accused. And like all of us, he constantly struggled with sin.

So how could Paul find peace, joy, and contentment in such terrible circumstances? By yielding totally to Jesus and receiving strength, comfort, and assurance from the Spirit of the living God.

Friend, all that Christ offers is available to you as well—regardless of your circumstances. As you commit yourself to Jesus in increasing measure, the power of His Spirit in you grows more apparent—you have a greater desire to obey Him and reflect His character. And the more you submit to Him, the more your faith will mature—and that always results in greater peace.

Paul learned to be content in all circumstances by learning to trust God completely. You can too. So where are you in this learning process?

Jesus, I will obey You in every situation, knowing You are greater than any difficulty I face, amen.

In His presence . . . discover true contentment in all circumstances.
