LISTENING WITH PATIENCE

“Those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” LUKE 8: 15 NKJV

Nowhere in Scripture does God tell anyone to rush into a decision. Though there may be times when you need to hear from Him quickly, the Lord will never tell you to hurry forward blindly.

Satan, on the other hand, always encourages you to act immediately, because his desire is to rush you to destruction. The enemy knows if you back off and think long enough about a decision, you’ll make a better choice— thwarting his ultimate plan.

Friend, if you feel an overwhelming urge to act spontaneously, pull in the reins. Be willing to listen to God persistently and patiently—even when doing so stretches your faith. Your loving heavenly Father has promised to speak to your heart, so you can expect Him to do so faithfully.

Just realize God most likely won’t tell you everything the moment you desire the information. Instead, He will guide you one step at a time, waiting until all the details are in their proper places for your good, and then He will instruct you in how to proceed.

Father, may Your Spirit work patience in me so I can wait with joy for Your instruction, amen.

In His presence . . . listen to Him with patience.
