OVERCOMING PERFECTIONISM

All glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. JUDE V.24 NLT

If you struggle with perfectionism, take heart in today’s verse: you are appraising yourself by the wrong standard. You don’t have to feel worthless. You don’t have to succeed at all costs. Jesus is your adequacy. Therefore, today read these truths out loud: No one can live up to God’s perfection or do what is right all the time. No one can live a totally sin-free life or escape all temptation. Jesus has paid my debts— I am blameless and can have great joy.

Living in a fallen world, you will have temptations and struggles—including the urge to give up or to resist God’s Word. But the good news is that you don’t need to live with a spirit of inadequacy.

You are covered with Jesus’ identity. This means that when the Father looks at you, He sees Christ’s strengths, His perfection, and His uncompromising goodness. And friend, that’s all you ever really need.

Father, help me release my fears by knowing blameless perfection is achieved through Your Son, Jesus, amen.

In His presence . . . accept you are blameless and secure forever.

Stanley, Dr. Charles F. (2014-11-11). Every Day in His Presence (p. 279).
