There’s no way for you to hear from God apart from the ministry of the Holy Spirit. When the Lord speaks to you through His Word, others, or circumstances, it is the work of the Spirit giving you insight into His will.

You have a living, divine Receiver within you through the Person of the Holy Spirit. Prayer isn’t God up there and you down here—separated and distant. Rather, it is the Holy Spirit speaking within you, ministering to your soul, and bearing witness to your spirit so that you may know the mind of Christ and accomplish the will of the Father.

But how can you know what the Spirit is telling you? By listening and believing that He is completely able to answer your petitions, speak to your heart, and give you direction. As fully as you trust Jesus to save you, have faith that the Spirit will lead you.

Therefore, today come humbly before God—dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit within you—and hear what He has to say.

Lord, thank You for Your Spirit, who lives in and guides me each day, amen.
