Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
ROMANS 12:1–2 NIV
What does it mean to be transformed by the truth? Romans 12:1–2 can be divided into three goals for us to pursue: present your body as a living sacrifice; do not be conformed to the world; be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Being a living sacrifice is how we honor God—we are to live in a way that glorifies Him. Not conforming to the world means that we refuse to live according to the faulty standards and practices of our fallen peers.
Transformation of our minds signifies that we adopt a new way of thinking—replacing our selfish and distorted thought patterns with God’s truth.
And all together, it indicates that you are made better—gloriously changed as the Lord directs. This will be challenging, but is totally worthwhile. So be a living sacrifice and trust Him to do astounding things in you.
Lord, mold my life and transform my mind so that I may become the person You created me to be, amen.
In His presence . . . your life will be transformed.
