Sin is a big problem. It worms its way into our lives, distorts our viewpoints, and influences our decisions. God knew that none of us could defeat the power of sin on our own, so He sent His Son into the world to conquer it. For those of us who have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, that victory has removed the penalty of sin from our lives.

Unfortunately, though, our acceptance of Christ as Savior does not necessarily stop us from sinning. However, we can find victory over sin by walking with the Savior daily.

How do we do so? We must be honest with Jesus about our sin and invite His cleansing power into the darkest parts of our lives. We agree with the Lord that our behaviors are ungodly; allow Him to transform our thinking; identify—with the Spirit’s help—what would please Him; and, in His power, take steps to turn from sin and walk in godliness.

Friend, you can have freedom from sin. Trust Jesus to teach you how to walk away from your old behavior and give you the victory.

Lord, help me turn from my sin and teach me to walk in Your righteousness, amen.
