Whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Philippians 3:7
There is a cost to knowing God. Yes, Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross so you could enjoy an internal relationship with Him (Romans 5). That’s not a penalty you ever have to worry about again (Ephesians 2:8-9). But as you progress in your relationship with God, you’ll find there are certain attitudes and actions that hinder you from really knowing Him-and you have to give them up.
Perhaps you’re at such a crossroad today. God has shown you what’s preventing your progress, but you fear the sacrifice you must make. This is where many people get stuck-they refuse to change. Sadly, they never experience Christ’s surpassing joy and power either.
Friend, please realize that the behavior God is asking you to release is speeding you along the path to distraction (Proverbs 16:25), while with Him is the path of life (Psalm 16:11). Don’t stay trapped in your old, distractive ways. Make the choice to move forward with the Father. I promise, He’s absolutely worth it.
Lord, I truly desire the fullness of an intimate relationship with You. Please help me be brave and move forward, amen.
