Be Still

“Cease striving and know that lam God.”
Psalm 46:10

The most profound need of your soul is to be still in the presence of God stop wrestling with your troubles or worrying about circumstances—the Lord Almighty is greater than all of them. So calm your soul and focus on His astounding wisdom, ability, and timing.

Think of His faithfulness to the saints of old–many who struggled with the same trials and fears that you do. They overcame by trusting God, and He rewarded their faith in miraculous ways. Remember also Exodus 14:14: Trapped between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea, doom seemed inevitable for Israel. But the instruction was clear, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still”

The same is true for you. The Father wants to surround you with His peace and demonstrate His power, but He will only do so as you rest in His care and release your troubles to His omnipotent hand.

So let down your guard and stop striving. Let the full meaning impact you to the core: He is God. He loves you. He will help you. You have no reason to fear.

Lord, You are God. You are all I need. I set my heart on You, amen.

In His presence …be still and focus on Him.
