WHEN OTHERS SPEAK

Like an… ornament of fine gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.
PROVERBS 25:12

In 2 Samuel 12, Nathan’s confrontation with David serves as an example of how God gets our attention through others. The Lord gave insight to Nathan instruction that David desperately needed to hear. And because King David listened, he was able to repent of his sin, and his fellowship with God was restored.

This still happens today. Realizing what is troubling us, the Father speaks to us through another person with the exact message we need. If we are proud or egotistical and refuse to take direction from wise counselors, we are destined for failure. But godly rebuke will lead to success in life if we’ll take it to heart.

Of course you should not listen to just anyone without any discernment. Be extremely careful about who counsels you because even those with the best intentions can lead you astray if they are not walking daily with the Savior. While God speaks through other people, always examine both message and messenger carefully and be sure everything you’re told aligns with Scripture.

Lord, please give me the discernment to know when You are speaking to me through others, amen.

In His presence… ask Him to identify the godly counselors.
