GIVE THANKS ANYWAY

Rejoice always. . . . In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 THESSALONIANS 5:16,18

Sometimes giving thanks may be the last thing you want to do. There are challenges you face that are so negative and painful that they affect every aspect of your life—stealing your joy and taking your focus away from God.

But if you will ask the Father to make you thankful, He will. If you tell Him you want to praise Him in the midst of your difficulties, He will bring blessings to mind and change your focus.

Why? Because God wants to help you honor His commands and reveal His good purposes in your circumstances (Romans 8:28). Though your trials may seem to be impeding your progress from your earthly perspective, He will show you how He is actually accomplishing great goals through them—like growing your faith.

So ask the Father to make you thankful today and voice your gratitude to Him. You’ll find that when You take your eyes off the problems and focus on Him, the challenges you face don’t seem so overwhelming anymore. You’ll also realize He’s already given you the victory.

Lord, I give You thanks. Bring Your blessings and good purposes to mind so I may always praise You, amen.

In His presence . . . be grateful.
