Armen Divanyan

Pastor Armen was born and raised in Armenia, the biblical land of Ararat. In 1991, during his teenage years, he was introduced to the Gospel by a friend and embraced his faith in Jesus Christ. He became part of an underground church, navigating the challenges of practicing his beliefs in secret from his parents. This was particularly important in Armenia, which, at that time, was under an atheistic regime as part of the USSR that had promoted atheistic and communist ideologies until its independence in 1990. His journey reflects his courage and commitment to his faith in a difficult environment. Pastor Armen traces his call to ministry back to an altar call he experienced at the age of 12 when a church member prophesied that he was destined for significant work in the Lord’s Kingdom.

In 1993, amidst the collapse of the USSR, Armen and his family embarked on a new journey by immigrating to Ohio. There, they discovered a supportive church community that offered them spiritual guidance and a sense of belonging during their transition. This experience ignited Armen’s desire to deepen his relationship with the Lord and serve Him wholeheartedly. Later, he moved to California and became more involved in the activities of a local Armenian Pentecostal church. He passionately led the young adult ministry, inspiring and guiding a generation on their spiritual journey.

Armen and Vardui Divanyan’s journey together began in the mid-1990s when they met at the Armenian Pentecostal Church, sparking a beautiful love story that blossomed into marriage in June 2001. Together, they have created a vibrant family filled with love and unity, proud parents to three amazing children: Alicia, Andre, and Aliyah. Their home is a warm sanctuary of support and togetherness, reflecting the deep bonds they’ve nurtured over the years.

Pastor Armen pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology at Capital Bible College, laying a strong foundation for his ministry. In 2013, he received a Ministry License and credentials from the Assemblies of God, empowering him to carry out vital pastoral and ministerial duties. His ordination by the Assemblies of God in April 2015 was a pivotal moment in his spiritual journey, highlighting his dedication to serving and uplifting the community.

Prior to Destiny, Pastor Armen led the Pastoral Care, Outreach, and Missions department at Capital Christian Center, where he acquired valuable administrative and pastoral skills, earning the trust of senior pastor Rick Cole. His remarkable administrative and pastoral skills earned the deep trust of Senior Pastor Rick Cole. His dedication and remarkable abilities truly stood out, earning him the deep respect and confidence of the church leadership.

In September 2015, a new chapter began with the first service of the Armenian Church, marking a significant step forward in its journey within the community. Since 2018, Pastor Armen has actively maintained connections with missionaries and fulfilled his calling to minister to the Middle East while also starting a Farsi-speaking ministry. This ministry has become a central hub for Afghan refugees in Sacramento and has resulted in numerous conversions and water baptisms of Muslims who have decided to give their lives to Christ.

Pastor Armen plays a vital role as the Senior Pastor of His House Armenian Church, which is an integral part of the Destiny Christian Church. He continued to grow in ministry opportunities under the leadership of Greg and Kathy Fairrington.

Pastor Armen considers it a great honor to serve and lead Outreach for Destiny Sacramento.
