King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed. 2 SAMUEL 7: 18 NLT
Today, notice the phrase “David . . . sat before the LORD.” This signifies that David was meditating—focusing on the Father’s ways and character. And it made sense for him to do so. As a man after God’s own heart, David wanted to know the Lord’s will for his life. And to a large extent, God revealed it to him as David persistently meditated before Him—and He blessed David greatly.
Likewise, meditation should be a daily priority for all believers. Of course, it is the one discipline Satan will doggedly keep us from observing because of all the Lord accomplishes through it. But it is of immense value if we are to know the Father, listen accurately to Him, and walk in His will.
So consider, what dilemma has you confounded today? What need is there that isn’t being filled or task that you’re hesitant to accomplish? Spend time today meditating upon God and His Word and He will certainly show you what to do.
Lord, help me make time with You my first priority of each day, and keep my mind fixed on all You teach me, amen.
In His presence . . . focus on Him.
